Course Description

T'AI CHI FOR HEALTH

Two Tracks: Exhibition Track and Personal Enrichment Track
For those students who like interacting with the public, we offer an Exhibition Track which
will take students out into the community for demonstrations of T'ai Chi Solo form. For
Intermediate Students only. We realize that some students may desire to learn T'ai Chi for
their own private, contemplative purposes, so we also offer a Personal Enrichment Track which
will hold classes in our studios only.

Detailed Course Description:
One-hour classes will consist of short lecture, warm-ups, training in whole-body breathing, and then physical movements. Other interactive learning methods will be incorporated, including insight meditation, alignment and strength testing, and audio-visual presentations. Beginner level will incorporate the first 15 moves; Intermediate level will incorporate form movements 15 through 23; Advanced levels incorporate form movements 23 through 49 and require six months of form practice and advanced skill in balancing. Classes are for everyone! Very safe and body-friendly.

Course Objectives:
To gain multiple holistic benefits through the practice of this ancient martial arts form. Learn T'ai Chi form and "circling" exercise. Learn philosophy of soft martial arts as influenced by the Taoist and Buddhist teachings. Gain in self-esteem, confidence, balance, and body awareness. Loosen stiff joints, tense muscles, and raise "chi" or vital life force energy throughout.

Learning Outcomes:
Students will learn many things: better mental focus, how to find peace within chaos, how to slow down the frantic pace of life to gain superb longevity and vitality. They will become exquisitely aware of where their body is in time and space, and will gain a sense of equanimity not found in any other exercise discipline of the Western world.
