Instructor Emily Smith, 66, has been practicing T’ai Chi Ch’uan since the 1970’s. She has received training from two students of the esteemed Grandmaster Cheng Man-Ch'ing: Dr. Yang Cheng and Terrance Dunn. In 1998, she was hired by MPS Recreation Division to teach “Tai Chi for Health," and has recently brought her practice to the Edgerton area where she teaches at her home studio, Flexx Appeal/Free Will Yoga in downtown Edgerton, and Basics Cooperative in Janesville.

Her story: “My own personal journey with T’ai Chi Ch’uan has kept me centered and strong through several major life losses over the last 20 years. There was always a place I could go inside myself, while performing this art form, that was safe, nurturing, and empowering. I have also overcome chronic back pain, two whiplash injuries, and rotator cuff injuries through this wonderful discipline. I recommend it to people of all ages and walks of life. It will change you forever! ~ Emily Smith, Certified T'ai Chi instructor
